Leading School Management

I cased managed a student in who suffered an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) midyear. The student went from being an average student who could not talk, control her movements, walk or sit up. During planning for her reintegrating into the school I coordinated the collaboration between staff at Princess Margret Hospital, Hospital School Services, CIS and Arbor Grove PS. The class teacher and I maintained regular communication so that all parties were aware of her changing needs. Despite the student was likely improve I was able to get good EA time. It was very difficult to find an EA who had the relevant experience. Once we had an EA appointed I suggested that she may find it helpful to attend therapy sessions at PMH to develop her understanding of the students’ physical and mental abilities and limitations. The EA attended several sessions at PMH which she said was very helpful.
